[2021.10.14, Taipei] SinoPac Holdings has been actively investing in making Taiwan a better country by extending its reach to arts, culture, and financial education throughout Taiwan. Bank SinoPac, a subsidiary of SinoPac Holdings, joined hands with the National Taichung Theater to hold the "Let's Go to the Theater" on the 13th and 14th, inviting high school students to enjoy the fusion of traditional and contemporary puppet theater by the "Jin Kwei Lo Puppetry Company". The theater has been transformed into a playground for fun learning with the spirit of innovation seen in traditional art and the use of animation characters to lead students to learn financial knowledge and concepts.

This is Bank SinoPac’s first time partnering with the National Taichung Theater in organizing “Let’s Go to the Theater”. With the easing of the Covid pandemic in Taiwan, all high school teachers and students in Taiwan were invited to participate in the event, which received a great response. A total of 826 students and teachers came to the National Taichung Theater on October 13th and 14th to watch the puppet shows, allowing the participating students to learn about different types of performing arts.

“Let’s Go to the Theater” presents “My Puppet My Life , a work full of philosophical thoughts on life by the “Jin Kwei Lo Puppetry Company”, which is a puppet theater group that has been passed down for three generations. The story is based on the background of the third generation administrator of the troupe, Ko Shihong, his life experiences, his affectionate connection with his grandmother (Jiang Chih-Mei, the first female puppeteer in Taiwan), and his hopes and aspirations towards puppetry. All of these construct an exciting life story in front of the stage” and “behind the stage”. In the play, the company tries to innovate within traditions, and the use of a half-body puppet similar to a temple fair’s “grandpa carrying grandma” is the most eye-catching, overturning the audience’s knowledge and imagination of puppetry.

According to SinoPac Holdings, financial and artistic literacy need to be cultivated from a young age, starting with how pocket money is used in students’ daily lives and establishing correct concepts and behaviors. Financial management is no longer a topic for adults. Bank SinoPac specially designed a treasure hunt map for junior and senior high school students using popular anime characters. SinoPac’s financial volunteers helped the students pass each level and challenge in the treasure hunt. The students actively scrambled for answers, and we could hear the constant laughter from each booth. In addition to clearly distinguishing between the “needs” and “wants” in life, the game adds themes such as the importance of savings and credit as well as smart spending on financial payments. The students can learn financial knowledge through the game and allow proper financial management concepts to take root from an early age.

SinoPac Holdings has long been deeply involved in the community, caring for the land and people of Taiwan through various forms of support for arts and cultural activities and financial education. In addition to working with the National Taichung Theater to host the “Let’s Go to the Theater” event, Bank SinoPac has supported the Taipei Children’s Arts Festival for 14 years since 2008. In 2019 and 2020, SinoPac also sponsored the “Southern Taiwan School Aesthetic Education Promotion Project” and the “Art Enterprise Learning - Aesthetic Education Project” organized by the Weiwuying National Center for Arts and Culture. In September this year (2021), we supported the “2021 Annual High School Financial Literacy Program” in Taipei City to expand the reach of SinoPac in promoting arts and culture and financial education. Its goal is to create a better society for humanities and arts in Taiwan.
