The Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA), one of Asia's most prestigious sustainability awards, held its award presentation ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on June 26. Recognized for its long-term commitment to corporate governance, low-carbon and net-zero transformation, digital innovation, talent development, and social inclusion, SinoPac Holdings received a total of nine awards.
Among these honors, Ms. Shi-Kuan Chen, Chairman of SinoPac Holdings, was presented with the Responsible Business Leadership Award for the fourth consecutive year, reflecting international recognition of the Group's tangible achievements in advancing sustainable development through financial expertise and responsible leadership.
Since assuming office in 2020, Ms. Chen has led SinoPac Holdings with a prudent and forward-looking management philosophy, balancing business growth with comprehensive risk management. Under her leadership, sustainability has been systematically embedded into the Group's governance framework, business strategy, and operational practices. In addition to establishing a Board-level Sustainability Development Committee, SinoPac Holdings has also established a dedicated Sustainability Office reporting directly to the Board, strengthening governance, oversight, and execution of environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives and effectively integrating sustainability objectives into corporate strategy and corporate culture.
Building on this strong governance foundation, SinoPac Holdings also received the Corporate Governance Award for its initiative, "Fulfillment of Trustworthy Governance – Integrity Governance Strategy: Fairness, Honesty and Transparency," demonstrating its commitment to trustworthy, transparent, and responsible corporate governance.
In the area of climate action and net-zero transition, SinoPac Holdings received the Green Leadership Award for its initiative, "Enhance Green Operations and Fulfill Sustainability Commitments." The award recognizes the Group's ongoing efforts to promote energy conservation and carbon reduction, expand the use of renewable energy, implement internal carbon pricing and supply chain carbon management, and continuously strengthen its green finance portfolio. These initiatives support SinoPac Holdings' commitment to achieving net-zero emissions in its own operations by 2030 and net-zero emissions across its financed portfolio by 2050.
In addition, subsidiary Bank SinoPac was recognized with the Sustainable Investment Award for "Sustainable Bonds – Best Issuer." Through the issuance of sustainability bonds, the Bank continues to channel capital toward renewable energy projects and initiatives generating positive social impact, demonstrating the crucial role financial institutions play in facilitating sustainable transformation.
In the digital technology category, Bank SinoPac received the Responsible Digital Practices Award for "Foresee Fraud, Secure First – Intelligent Protection." By leveraging artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and behavioral analysis technologies, the Bank has established a comprehensive anti-fraud framework covering detection, early warning, customer care, and loss prevention. Innovative measures such as dedicated SMS short codes, third-party intervention mechanisms, and ATM facial recognition technology further enhance transaction security and strengthen customer trust, exemplifying a responsible approach that combines technological innovation with human-centered care.
Recognizing that people are the foundation of organizational resilience and sustainable growth, SinoPac Holdings received the Investment in People Award for its "SinoPac 3A Talent Dynamics Program." Built around the pillars of AI empowerment, a culture of trust and inclusiveness, and accelerated growth, the program promotes AI literacy across the workforce, develops digital capabilities, and encourages cross-functional learning, helping strengthen the Group's long-term transformation and competitiveness.
Meanwhile, SinoPac Holdings also received the Health Promotion Award for "People-Centric Health Governance: A Comprehensive Employee Well-being Program at SinoPac Holdings." Through a three-tier governance framework encompassing policy, prevention, and feedback mechanisms, the Group has created a workplace environment that supports the physical and mental well-being of its employees.
In recognition of its contribution to social inclusion, SinoPac Holdings received the Social Empowerment Award for the "SinoPac Store Power-Up Program." SinoPac Holdings was also honored with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Award. Its Sustainability Report clearly articulates the Group's sustainability vision and strategy while aligning with multiple internationally recognized sustainability disclosure frameworks.
