[Taipei] Bank SinoPac Chairman Wei-Thyr TSAO participated in the “2025 ESG Summit” this week, highlighting the bank’s three-pronged approach to sustainability: operational transformation, financial instruments, and market forces. SinoPac has adopted green electricity and digitalization within its own operations, and provides green finance services to support solar power development—now capable of supplying electricity to approximately 1.6 million households. The bank also pioneered a Green Energy Electricity Trading Trust Platform, opening the door to market transactions and accelerating adoption. Additionally, SinoPac is expanding into emerging energy sectors such as onshore wind, geothermal, small hydropower, and energy storage, positioning itself as a key driver for corporate transformation and net-zero carbon emissions.
International Standards in Focus: Sustainability as a Core Issue
The 2025 ESG Summit, organized by the Accounting Research and Development Foundation and Accounting Research Monthly, brought together experts from finance, technology, and accounting to discuss the 2050 net-zero goal, sustainability policies, international sustainability standards, and green finance. Chairman Tsao noted that the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) provides more consistent disclosure standards for enterprises, while Basel IV incorporates carbon emissions into banks’ capital management frameworks, underscoring that sustainability has become a central issue across industries.
